Ancient Amulet for Healing Eyes

In ancient Graeko-Egyptian magic, gems were used as amulets for a wide variety of purposes. Seen here is a rare attestation for healing eyes.

The frontside is engraved with a lizard with a crescent moon. The letters around the lizard read pêra which means “disabled” or “blind”. The backside is engraved with the purpose: Kanthe s‘oule – Eye, be healthy!
