Over 100 ancient Egyptian and Greek magic books have been discovered in Egypt until today. They date between the 1st century BC and the 12th century AD and they include instructions for the ritual making and use of around 300 inscribed magical artefacts. These instructions provide information and insight which we do not gain from the archaeological record.
