How to Express “Very Good” in the Egyptian-Demotic Magical Papyri

Learning the languages of the ancient magical papyri

In the Egyptian-Demotic magical papyri, to express that a ritual is “very” good, you write “good” and add “times-2”.

Good = nfr
Times-2 = sp-sn
Very good = nfr sp-sn

Take a look at the infographic and the writing of the word “nfr” = “good”. In this magical papyrus it was written in different ways, either with the – much older – hieroglyph, or in the Demotic script.
